Faribault Tourism Proving to be Recession Proof
With all the talk of an economic downturn and a Recession, there is one thing we can be positive about; Tourism in Faribault.
Due to the ecomony, the next 12-18 months will be a boon to communities throughout Minnesota and that includes Faribault.
Why is a bad ecomony good for Faribault tourism? It all starts with fuel prices. To start, you can go directly to the airlines. The cost of jet fuel has risen to such extreme levels, it is one of the main reasons Northwest needed to merge with Delta airlines. Those costs will directly impact the cost of flight tickets. A family of four paying $400 a ticket will cut just too deep into a
vacation budget. When travel costs are taking away from fun, families will choose to stay closer to home.
The key to Faribault Tourism being recession proof lies in the fact that people will still travel and take vacations. Time off from work and spending time with families is usually at the top of everyones list, what adjusts is how people budget their time as well as their checkbook.
Trips by car that are 2-4 hours away from home will be very popular in the next year or two. Many people from Iowa and Wisconsin have already chosen Faribault lakes and camping rather than venturing to northern Minnesota or Canada.
Since Faribault sits comfortably an hour away from hundreds of thousands of people from the Twin Cities to Rochester, you can begin to look for folks to be driving into town right now.
