2009 was a tough year.  We have felt it in many ways; the loss of retail stores, a glut of commercial space on the market and the downsizing and even closure of mainstay companies.  Despite following the national trend of increased unemployment and slow economic recovery, Faribault has things to celebrate.

We celebrate the expansion of local businesses like MRG, KGP Logistics, Faribault Foods, ETS and more.  Private and public development partners worked with business expansion, welcoming Rare Aircraft, Malt O Meal, and moving closer to ground breakings for SAGE and Moventus.

Even in tough times our work continues to assist existing businesses overcome challenges to grow and expand and our work continues with new businesses seeking opportunities in our great community.

The Chamber of Commerce is actively involved in business growth and development, working cooperatively with the City of Faribault, the Economic Development Authority, Faribault Industrial Corporation and the Rice County Economic Development office. Other development partners include Excel Energy, Steele Waseca Cooperative Electric, South Central College, Southern Minnesota Initiative Foundation and the Workforce Development Center.
