Volunteer and Leadership Opportunities

Get Active:
Business Advocates:
Business Advocates representing businesses interests with government at all levels, this committee helps members with individual issues and researches the Chamber’s position on larger issues. On the local front this committee helps the board determine priorities and presents education opportunities to members regarding school district, city and county issues.
Downtown Action Committee:
The Downtown Action Committee (DAC) is organized to unify the central business district, with emphasis on Central Avenue, to create an attractive destination in which businesses prosper, the community benefits and residents along with visitors enjoy a quality experience downtown.
GROW Faribault:
GROW is a private sector statewide business retention and expansion initiative created to strengthen and expand Minnesota’s for-profit employer base. The business community plays an active role in the growth of business and in the quality of the business climate.
Agribusiness:
The Chamber Agribusiness Committee’s purpose is to advance the relationships between farm production and community business leaders. Annually they arrange for agricultural programs and farm tours in our local grade schools. They also host an annual Farm-Business luncheon; the “Best of the Best in Agriculture” awards program and also host the farm-business tour and picnic.
Workforce Development:
This Workforce Development task force works in cooperation with education providers to meet future workforce needs of our regional business community. Initiatives include helping middle school students master the skills needed to succeed at work. At the high school level the Workforce Committee plans a Career Fair and assists with matching businesses with students for job shadowing experiences
Event Taskforces:
The Chamber produces a number of events each year, bringing members together for networking, recognition and enjoyment. For every event a member task force leads the way in planning, execution and evaluation. Join an event task force to help plan the Chamber Business EXPO, Taste of Faribault, Golf Outing, Annual Gala or the Business Awards Luncheon.
Ambassadors:
The Ambassadors advance the positive image of the Faribault Area Chamber of Commerce by promoting the value of Chamber membership. The Ambassadors assist with recruiting new members, member retention and networking at monthly Chamber events.
Tourism: Become part of the planning committee that directs the work of the Tourism department. You can help guide the promotion and marketing to visitors including visitors guide, map, website, group tours and local events.
Business Before Hours:
Business Before Hours is held on the first Wednesday of each month hosted by a member business. Stop in for 15 minutes or stay for the entire time from 7:30 – 9 am. The Chamber considers this the monthly general membership meeting. Mark your calendar and come as often as you can.
Business After Hours:
Business After Hours is held from 5-7 pm on the date determined by the business host. This event welcomes all Chamber members and guests as well. These events always provide a great opportunity to learn more about a member business and connect with fellow members.
Faribault’s Future:
Faribault’s Future is a 10 month program builds leadership skills and community awareness and helps participants develop necessary skills for leadership at work and in the community. The class meets monthly from September through June and includes a day at the Shattuck Ropes Challenge Course, a trip to the State Capital and many local business tours and panel discussions.
Seminars:
The Chamber hosts Business Seminars annually to bring relevant information to members.
Mural Society:
The Mural Society mission is to use public visual art to enhance the local economy. This volunteer group is responsible for the new murals around town. They work with building owners and artists to determine the next location and theme, and implement the project.
Y-Pro:
Young Professionals is a new program designed for ages 21-39. Participants make the contacts and gain information they need to advance their careers in the Faribault area. The planning committee is working on four events for 2010.
