36 Years!
Starting 37 in two weeks!
That is how long I have been taking portraits in Faribault, at the same location, none the less.
A far as business goes I guess that by the grace of God we have been successful!
The coolest thing is just look at business in Faribault and are WE ALL ever fortunate.
Faribault has quite a number of businesses that have been helping our community be successful for a long time
Downtown we have Fette’s, Burkhartzmeyer Shoes, Eastman Music, St. Bank of Faribault, Chappuis Jewelry, Kay’s Floral, Brazil’s Barbershop, Duff’s Liquor, and Grandpa AL’s. Also setting some record time in business – Faribault Print Shop, B&B Sporting Goods, Faribault Vacuum Center, Keepers, Du Four’s Cleaners, Ace Hardware, Anna Dee’s Restaurant, and Bernie’s Restaurant. And we cannot forget just down the road Glenn’s Service Station.
All across our community we have many more rock solid businesses – such as Faribault Farm and Home, Farmers Seed, 1st United Bank, Faribault Foods, Faribault Harley Davidson, Donahue’s Greenhouse, Brushwork’s and a do apologize for anyone that I omitted.
Now – back to me!
When I first came to Faribault (where is that? – exactly!) I had no idea that this would be the place that I would live and fall in love with. Starting almost immediately the first two businessmen that welcomed me were George and Bill Boosalis from of course The Olympia Café. They not only offered their support but their valuable advice as well. Another businessman that gave me support was Joe Bachrach of Jim & Joe’s Clothing. I felt welcomed and hopefully on my way to conquering the world!
Okay, okay more about Faribault – geeze!
As the economy fails to rise from the ashes of the past four years of “tuff” times we have to realize that this has occurred at least three times before in the years that I have been in business. As a community we have always pulled together, kept our purchasing in-town as much as possible, and always looked for the silver lining in the future. We have a very proud and strong sense of being a successful and aggressive city.
It still holds true that for every dollar that is spent in our community it passes between other businesses four times! Shopping local really works!
I am going to finish – about me again.
36 years of Professional Photography truly has been fun and exciting!
Getting the chance to capture so many life time memories is its own reward.
At the same time it has been a challenge to not only keep up with changes in styles and techniques, BUT to be a leader!
From 23 years of using film to the past 13 years using digital I have always had the desire to produce portraits that capture the individual’s life style and personality.
So as time changes, techniques and technology, we all need to grow and support each other!
