The 2018 Faribault Area Chamber of Commerce and Tourism Gala was held on Saturday, February 3 at the Faribault American Legion. It was a wonderful night during which the passing the gavel from 2017 Board Chair Nate Chappuis – Chappuis Jewelry, to 2018 Board Chair Heidi Nelson – Heidi’s Clubhouse.
Chappuis spoke of the accomplishments that the chamber has had over the last year, of the personal growth and opportunities he experienced by being active with the chamber and encouraged more people to get engaged. Nelson looked to the future and emphasized not only the business, but also personal connections that come with membership.
- Gary Lararz, State Bank of Faribault was recognized as the Ambassador of the Year
- Former Faribault Area Chamber of Commerce and Tourism President Elaine Kenow-Beaupre was in attendance, showing three eras of chamber leadership
- Nort Johnson has taken the reigns of the chamber as the President/CEO and he shared his vision for the future of the Chamber and the big rocks that are priorities.
- Following years of leadership, Kymn Anderson was recognized by Mayor Kevin Voracek, Century Link, Steve Kohl, Parker Kohl Funeral Home and Senator John Jasinksi, along with the outgoing and incoming board chairs. Anderson was given a custom fleur-de-lis pendant necklace crafted by Chappuis Jewelers, and thanked all of those present for their contributions to the community and the chamber.
After the dinner and program, guests danced to and enjoyed the music of Jivin’ Ivan and the Kings of Swing.
Welcoming all members, community leaders and guests, the annual event focuses on the Chamber organization, accomplishments, and goals and celebrating Chamber membership.
