Made in Faribault Day was hosted by South Central College and presented in partnership by Faribault Public Schools Service Learning, South Central College and The Faribault Area Chamber of Commerce and Tourism. Over 100 students had the opportunity to tour the manufacturing labs at South Central College and to take a tour of a local manufacturing facility. Local tours were at Daikin Applied, Faribault Foods and MRG Tool and Die. This local project is part of the statewide effort to highlight the importance of manufacturing for our economy. Manufacturing accounts for one in every five jobs in Rice County!
Special thanks to Brian Coleman – Service Learning Coordinator at Faribault Public Schools and Kelcey Woods-Nord – South Central College Advanced Manufacturing project coordinator for working on this event.
Many manufacturers in our region and around the state share that attracting talent is a major concern. This is just one way to open the eyes of high school students about the outstanding careers in manufacturing.
Thanks to the Faribault Daily News for partnering with us on the Manufacturing guide and to the companies and organizations that support it through advertising. Call the chamber to receive your copies.
