Allina Health has announced a dramatic consolidation of services in southern Minnesota, culminating in the closure of the Faribault Birth Center on December 1, 2025. The health system is moving all labor and delivery care to Owatonna Hospital as part of a new regional model, citing provider shortages and sustainability challenges. The closures extend beyond obstetrics, with Faribault Medical Center also ending weekend and evening emergency surgical coverage, and pediatric admissions scheduled to cease in May 2026.
